COVID-19 Relief: Lynchburg Machining featured on WSET
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET)--Lynchburg Machining is using its resources to help protect medical personnel in our community.
They usually make all kinds of parts for various companies, so they found a way to supply when they heard about the need for protection for health workers.
They are making and donating 150 plastic face shields and one thousand mask comfort clips to Centra's hospitals in Lynchburg and Farmville.
These shields will provide those on the front lines more protection from things like coughs and sneezes.
The comfort clips are meant to wrap around the back of the head in order to help medical professionals avoid irritation behind their ears as they wear medical masks all day.
The machinery plant is doing this not only to give back, but because this pandemic really hits home for some staff members.
"We have a lot of employees here that have ties to the health care industry like spouses and significant others," explained plant manager, Greg White, "so we knew there was an immediate need and we just want to do our part."
White also says they are pursuing any other opportunities to help the cause, and hope to manufacture these products for other hospitals that need them.
They want everyone to know that although they can't meet every need, they will do their best to help the community get through this together.
